Real Review: Drilling Out Rusted Exhaust Studs on a Ford Fusion
One mechanic who stopped by had been working on a 2009 Ford Fusion that needed a new catalytic converter and front flex pipe. Anyone who's done exhaust work knows how that goes: rusted, seized studs. Here's how he put it:
"They're studded and they were rusted and I used the drill bit and I cut backwards through the rusty studs all the way out, got rid of all of them. There was six bolts total to get everything out and only one bit got a little bit dull."
He swapped in stainless steel bolts and the job was done.
Real Review: Cutting Channel Iron Without a Torch
The HDII is a cutting and grinding wheel with a steel core impregnated with 6 karats of diamond. Same customer, different day: he ran out of torch gas mid-job and reached for an HDII instead.
